Nighthawk AC1900 Modem Router Drops WiFi on Windows 11?

I have a Netgear D7000 Nighthawk AC1900 modem router that I have been using for the last 5 years. It works perfectly well. I purchased a Windows 11 Surface Go 3 last month. Since the time I have been using the Surface Go 3, the Netgear D7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Modem router drops internet connection. The WiFi works well with all other devices like iPhone, iPad, other PCs etc. However, when I use Windows 11 Surface Go 3, the internet becomes very bad.

There will be many users like me who are facing such issues. I got my solution. But I feel it is better to help other Netgear router users also. Hence, I am writing this blog post so that those who haven’t got their solution can take the help and get their WiFi up and working on the Surface Go 3.

At first, I thought my D7000 router is not compatible with my new device i.e. Windows 11 Surface Go 3. But then, after a lot of research work, I got its solution. Now everything is working fine. I can use router WiFi on my new device. But there are many other fixes that I tried before getting the ultimate fix. Here is the step-by-step process that I implemented.

The fact is there is no specific reason that such issues arise. That said, I want to bring to your notice that if the reason is not one, then the solution won’t be the same for all. During my research, I found that for some rebooting helped while others had to make changes in the network settings.

1. Reboot Nighthawk AC1900 Modem Router

Rebootyour D7000 Nighthawk AC1900 modem router or any other router model that you own. This is a versatile solution that works well to fix many technical issues. Powering off and on the router is all that you do.

2. Power Cycle Whole Network

I power cycled the whole network by disconnecting everything, powering off the devices and making the connections once again. This helped many users. Perhaps you might get lucky with this.

3. Make Hard Wired Connection

Earlier I used WiFi on my Windows 11 Surface Go 3. I connected it to my router’s network using WiFi. However, do you know that wired connections are always better? Signal dropping happens a lot when you use WiFi. Why not give it a try to LAN connection?Connect the AC1900 router to the new device using a LAN cable.

4. Do Network Settings Reset

You may need to reset your network settings on the Windows 11 Surface Go 3. You can try this step that helps to resolve the issue with your WiFi.

Power on the Surface Go 3.
Press Windows+ I.
Select Network & Internet.
Next, click Advanced Network Settings.
Thereafter, click Network Reset.
Click on the Reset Now button.
Confirm by clicking on Yes.
Reboot your Surface Go 3 now.

5. Update the Nighthawk Router

Older firmware versions can be responsible for such issues with your devices. Since Windows 11 is updated, there is nothing wrong with the Surface Go 3. It is the router is not updated.So, get the firmware on your Nighthawk updated to the latest possible version. This very solution worked for me as well.
